Both Counselling and Psychotherapy can help those who are suffering from emotional distress and personal difficulties. Both can be viewed as forms of personal growth, making improvements to the quality of life. Both can help you gain insight and understanding of yourself and others. change in their lives. Which approach will most suit you will emerge during the early sessions and we will decide together how we want to work.
Usually short-term (1-10 sessions) dealing with a concrete issue/s in your current life using inner and outer resources available to you. Often, but not exclusively, working with 'conscious processes.'
Open ended, with the overall aim of changing yourself, of deep internal change, working with both 'conscious and unconscious processes.'
My practice is in Cockermouth, within easy reach of Carlisle, Penrith, Whitehaven and Workington.
Appointments are scheduled for 1 hour. Daytime and early evening appointments are possible. I request that you arrive at the appointed time because I do not have a waiting room if you are early. We will end the session at the scheduled time, even if you arrive after your start time.
Psychotherapy clients have a regular weekly slot and they pay for their 'time slot', whether or not they attend.
Counselling clients have weekly or fortnightly slots by arrangement.
My fee is £50 per session. Fee is reviewed annually.
